Season Overview

Real Salt Lake entered the 2010 season as defending MLS Cup champions following their 2009 final win over the Los Angeles Galaxy. Head coach Jason Kreis kept the core of the championship squad together — captain Kyle Beckerman in midfield, Javier Morales as the creative playmaker, and Nick Rimando in goal — and the team competed across MLS, the CONCACAF Champions League, and the U.S. Open Cup.

Final Standing

Real Salt Lake finished fourth in the Eastern Conference with 47 points, securing a playoff spot. The team was eliminated in the conference semi-finals by FC Dallas. The CONCACAF Champions League run was more successful — RSL reached the final the following year (2010–11 edition), where they fell to Mexican side Monterrey.
