Career Overview
Eljero Elia broke through at FC Twente during their pre-title-winning era, making his Netherlands debut in 2009. He featured at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, where the Dutch reached the final before losing to Spain in extra time, and at Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine.
After moves to the Bundesliga (Hamburg, Werder Bremen) and Serie A (Juventus), Elia returned to the Netherlands with Feyenoord in 2015 and was part of the squad that ended the club's eighteen-year wait for the Eredivisie title in 2016–17. Later spells in Turkey and a return to Utrecht closed out his career.
