Spell at Atlético Madrid (2014)

Banega spent the second half of the 2013–14 La Liga campaign on loan at Atlético Madrid. He arrived in January 2014 and featured during the run-in as Atlético — managed by Diego Simeone — pursued and eventually clinched the La Liga title, the club's first since 1995–96.
